County Boards of Equalization ensure real and personal properties are valued at true and fair value, and provide the first formal level of appeal for property owners who dispute the value the county assessor’s office has placed on their property. County boards are intended to provide a convenient, non-intimidating arena for assessed values to be challenged. Board members are private citizens.
