Investments

Our office manages an investment portfolio of approximately $15 million. We invest the public money in accordance with state and federal law as well as our Wahkiakum County Investment Policy. The County Finance Committee comprised of the county Treasurer, county Auditor and the chair of the county Commissioner’s, oversees the policy.

Every investment fund has an appointed manager who provides us with written authorization to invest their excess monies. We then place the money in qualified public depositories such as the Washington State Local Government Investment Pool, Bank of America, Washington Mutual and Bank of the Pacific. No public monies are invested in the stock market. Safety of public money is our top priority.
