WAHKIAKUM
COUNTY TREASURER
Property Tax Administration
The Treasurer is responsible for the collection of personal and
real property taxes as well as special assessments.
Property tax bills are mailed out once a year in mid-February.
Taxes can be paid in 2 installments. The first half tax must be
paid or postmarked by April 30th. The second half tax is due October
31st. Taxes under $50 must be paid in full by April 30th. If the
due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or Holiday, then payment
will be accepted the next business day.
We must have the full amount of an installment including interest
and penalty in order to accept the payment. Payments for less than
the full amount will be returned to you. You can pay the first
half payment plus any interest and penalty due until 10/30. After
that date you must pay the entire year’s tax. You can pay
current year tax without paying delinquent taxes.
The Treasurer is responsible for the collection of personal and
real property taxes as well as special assessments.
If you miss the deadlines, interest and penalty will be applied.
If you pay after April 30th, interest and penalty will be calculated
on the full year not the installment amount. If you pay after October
31st, interest and penalty is calculated on any remaining amount
due. Interest is 1% per month. A penalty of 3% is added June 1st
and another 8% is added on December 1st. Please call our office
at 360.795.8005 to verify correct amount due.
If you miss the April 30th installment for personal property,
the entire year’s tax plus penalty and interest is due immediately.
If not paid, the property becomes subject to Distraint.
Real property is subject to sale by the county when the property
is 3 full years delinquent. Personal property follows different
rules so is subject to sale in the first year of delinquency.
Information regarding the assessed value of your property can
be obtained from the Wahkiakum County Assessor’s office.
Please contact them by phone at (360) 795-3791.
