As of 2025, the 1984 Comprehensive Plan has been considered out of date. There have been attempts since 2002 to update the Comprehensive Plan, but it has not been successfully completed. Starting with the January 2025 Wahkiakum County Planning Commission Regular Meetings, the Planning Commission has picked up the ball in an attempt to get an updated version across the completed goal line. It was determined that the draft known as the Comprehensive Plan Draft #3-August 2008 (will be referred to as the 2008 Draft), was a good start to the update process and the Planning Commission decided to go through this draft to see what was good and what needed updating. There is a link to the 2008 Draft below this paragraph. Since then they have been working on it every month at their Regular Meetings. The public is encouraged to take part in these meetings to add their input. Please see the Planning Commission page for meeting dates and times.
As we progressed through the process of reviewing the 2008 Draft there was missing pages for Element 3. Those pages were found and have been provided separately.

July 24, 2025-Continued reviewing the 2008 Draft Element 2 through page18 and noted items that needed to be updated
August 28, 2025-Continued reviewing the 2008 Draft Element 2 from page 19 through 29 and noted items that needed to be updated
September 25, 2025-Continued reviewing the 2008 Draft Element 2 from page 30 through 36 and noted items that needed to be updated
October 23, 2025-Continued reviewing the 2008 Draft Element 2 from page 37 through 47 and noted items that needed to be updated, this completed the review for Element 2.
November 20, 2025 (date changed due to Thanksgiving Holiday)-Continued reviewing the 2008 Draft Element 3 and noted items that needed to be updated. Element 3 review has been completed.
December 25, 2025-Meeting Cancelled
January 22, 2026-Continued reviewing the 2008 Draft Element 4 and agreed that all statistics are out of date and will require assistance from outside sources for updating and will be reviewed once the updates have been completed. Started reviewing Element 5 through page 100.
February 26, 2026-Discussed the remainder of Element 5 starting page 101 through page 123 and noted where updates were needed.
March 26, 2026-Planned Discussion Element 6 pages 124-153.
